WHO IS THE BOOGEY MAN?
One of the biggest holidays of the year besides Christmas comes in October. Frankly, as a kid, I enjoyed Halloween. Fortunately, in a small town you have more liberties and benefits. I loved to dress up as someone or something else and run from house to house collecting candy, popcorn balls, candied apples, cookies and cupcakes. We didn’t have to worry about crazy people putting razor blades or poison in our food. We often had parties where we went on scavenger hunts, bobbed for apples with blindfolds and ate all kinds of supposed human organs. Fun, fun, fun!
Getting scared was always kind of fun. The only time it really wasn’t funny was when a gruff, older man decided to “trick” rather than “treat” and supposedly went for his shotgun. I ran screaming off of his porch and my friends who stayed behind got the treats. As teenagers, we went to scary movies or played tricks on our friends.

These days, Halloween is much different for me. People are still wearing disguises, but since I am a diabetic, there are no treats around, I’ve seen every decent scary movie three or four times, and the real monsters are trying to destroy our country. October is the celebration of the Russian Socialist Revolution and the establishment of the first socialistic country. Marxists and socialists still celebrate the revolution and believe that the destruction of capitalism is the only way for equity and equality to exist. They still want to construct a free and prosperous society by abolishing private property and the market system, which is nothing more than an “assault on reality". |
Socialism did not work in Russia. The collectivization of agriculture caused terror and famine resulting in an estimated 20 million deaths. The Soviets were able to only achieve real success in military hardware, into which enormous resources were poured. Rational economic planning cannot take place in the absence of prices for producer goods, and no such prices can arise where all producer goods are owned by the state.
The same thing has happened in Sri Lanka and Venezuela. Sri Lanka gained independence in 1948 and by 1956 the government began to install socialistic reforms. In 1977 an attempt to bring a free market system to Sri Lanka eventually failed because the government still controlled the economy and 500 of the major companies. In 2022 election an environmentalist government took over and immediately banned chemical fertilizers which destroyed farm production. Sri Lanka’s economy is now destroyed.

Venezuela’s socialistic policies destroyed South America’s most prosperous country. The economy was based on oil production. When prices are up, income is up but as prices fall the social programs lose funding. The government then began to intervene in the economy through price controls. When this didn’t work, leaders began punishing private industries that they accused of being a part of sabotage and began to randomly confiscate private property, to deter economic activity.
President Chavez created constant shortages of consumer goods, including basic essentials. Shortages sporadically appeared with items from milk to coffee when Chavez began regulating prices for 400 basic products. Meat cuts vanished from Venezuelan supermarkets, leaving only unsavory bits like chicken feet, while costly artificial sweeteners increasingly replaced sugar which is privately owned.

Socialism does not work! It requires a dictatorial leader who is supported by a party that agrees with everything the leader wants regardless of whether it makes sense or not. The government then must take control of the population through executive orders that can even go against the constitution that formed the country. The leader must control the media and quickly punish anyone or anything that stands against the policies of “the party.” The adoption of environmental policies that furthers their control over land and water resulting in the loss of property rights, water rights and the farming, ranching, oil and mining industries.
If this sounds familiar, it is! Socialism didn’t work in Russia, Sri Lanka or Venezuela and it won’t work here. All of the supposed intellectuals and Hollywood social economists believe that they are leading us to a utopian society because the intellectuals of the October Revolution, such as Lenin, Trotsky, Marx, Mao, et.al. held reins of power, but let’s not forget that even USSR was dismembered in 1991. |
The real boogey man of socialism is just a “trick” that can’t be believed. It is a boogey man disguised as a prophet, a lover of nature, a lover of all good, a lover of all races and a righteous president that cares for us all. We won’t be fooled! There are no ghosts or goblins and there is no utopia outside of heaven. Do not fear and run like I did, but “stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel” and the Kingdom (our country). KLN |
