Past Comments:Joe Schmoe writes: If it is OK for you to call some American voters communist, is it OK for them to call you a Nazi? Country Citizen replies: Dear Mr. Schmoe, I’m not sure if I clearly understand the intent of your question, but I will make an effort. In the USA there are voters who are Communist, Socialist, Independent, Democratic, Republican, Libertarian, Constitutional, Nazi, KKK, and very soon illegal immigrants. So, to state that some voters are communists is factual. To call me a Nazi without knowing who I am is prejudicial because you would be basing that on the fact that I am writing from a conservative point of view. Not all conservatives are Nazis just like not all liberals are communists. I would argue the point that they both are in the minority. Unfortunately, in these days people are so frustrated that we spend too much time name calling and not enough time listening. So, calling anyone a name without proof of their affiliation is wrong. Nazism was not a Christian movement. It was noted for totalitarianism where the leader proposed bills that established such strict codes over people’s lives to where they could not make decisions for themselves or family, could be imprisoned without trial, property taken, killed if you were a Jew, children taken from homes and indoctrinated by government policies, arrest of parents who did not submit, banned books, control of media and arrest for speaking out. As a Christian conservative, I feel that the present administration has moved too close to totalitarianism and that conservative Christians have become the “new” Jews. The answer is not calling names, burning private property, cancelling our voice, or deny us our constitutional rights. The answer is to try to understand other’s point of view and be willing to compromise, or even lose and not become hateful. If you would like more information about the Nazi Party, I would suggest this article. Thank you for taking time to submit your question/comment. kln March 8: Good article on the Cuban missile crisis. President Eisenhower had previously warned to beware of the industrial military complex; I believe that crisis, with the attitude of some of Kennedy's military advisors, gave credibility to his warning. -SW January 8: I recently got your letter in the mail, I looked at your web site and I have a few questions. -Are you a Republican newsletter? or do you provide all facts as facts? -If all you are doing is providing facts, I think that is wonderful, but how can you be sure you are giving all facts with all the bs that goes around? I'm tired of hearing just one side of issues and really can't figure out what the truth really is about anything, I do wish there was an outlet that was not inspired by the all mighty dollar. Even though I think our values align, I do not want another outlet trying to persuade me to their side by lies, I'd rather have the facts and make my own decisions. If all you are doing is informing the public with facts, whether good or bad for either party, then I'm in, keep the letters coming. -KS Country Citizen replies: KS, It was great to hear from you! It is through input from readers that will make this newsletter a benefit to all. In response to your questions, this is NOT a Republican newsletter. There is not a political party that doesn’t have its problems. I have voted Democratic, Republican, Independent and Constitutional. What I would say is that our moral values and beliefs tend to be conservative. As Christians, we support those issues that we believe agree with the kingdom of heaven and oppose those that do not. In saying this, our intention is to present facts and, even then, we understand that we cannot always get the facts due to media bias and individual honesty or clarity in matters. In those instances, we do our best to present both sides and encourage people to draw their own conclusions. We encourage people to disagree and will post their comments in the newsletter so that we all can come to an understanding of issues. We want people to be aware of events and then decide for themselves what they believe. No one person can have all the answers except for God. |
