SO, YOU VOTED, NOW WHAT?
Now that we have done our part for this country by voting, what do we begin to do for our country, heaven? Paul said in Philippians 1:27, “Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News.” You are on assignment!
I think we often forget that heaven is a country and we are ambassadors (Eph 6:20) of heaven to earth to establish the kingdom of heaven here. Jesus was sent to be king of the kingdom of heaven and spent much of his time talking about it. The angels that proclaimed his birth, also proclaimed his kingdom. “The government will be upon His shoulder and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace, there will be no end.” (Isaiah 9:6-7)
The government of the kingdom would be much different than how mankind has established kingdoms. Man takes territory through violence and keeps control by fear. But we must win people to the kingdom by our lifestyle of peace and love as established through God’s word. Many people promise peace, freedom, and government support and are willing to shed blood for it, but only the blood of Christ can solve our problems and give real peace. It is not enough to talk kingdom; you must live kingdom before others.
You will encounter resistance! The enemy does not want Christ’s kingdom to come. He wants to maintain his authority over people to make them slaves for his kingdom. Who has authority?? Remember that Jesus has given you authority over all the power of the enemy. (Luke 10:19). God has also given you dominion over the works of His hands. (Psalm 8:1-6) Do you believe? Will you act?
We often get stuck in complacency and compromise. We enjoy the blessings of God, the comfort of friends and family and a good football game, but sometimes we have to stop and take an account, for we shall certainly have to give an account to God. (Romans 14:12) Are we spending more time promoting or complaining about this country than we spend promoting our country (the kingdom of God)? Is it a top priority? We can’t change this country until we bring in God’s kingdom.
What to do? I will say the dreaded word that most people don’t even understand or use. We must repent. What exactly does that mean? How do we really do it?
Repent simply means “change your mind”, but along with the change you need to “go back”. You have to make a decision to turn back and do the word. It doesn’t matter if you have repented before, it is just like forgiveness. Keep on doing it until there is a change. One of the fruits of the Holy Spirit is self-control. If you have the Holy Spirit, you are now governing your life, it is not governing you. You must decide, and with that decision understand that repentance brings “times of refreshing”. (Acts 3:19). Nothing like a great shower after a long day’s work in the sun! You deserve it! KLN

Galatians 6:2 encourages fellow believers to "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. As a community, we are bound together with the love of Christ. We exhibit that love through prayer for one another. Someone in our midst may be hurting, believing for a new job, seeking direction from God. When we come together in agreement for each other, we see God begin to work! We want to agree with you. We encourage our readers to let us know what we can all agree on for you. If you have a specific need that you would like us to pray for, let us know. The Word of God compels us to pray for one another in the community where we live. So agree with us as we pray for each other!

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live,
but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh
I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
