The Motive Behind the Madness
This month, the Epoch Times included an opinion piece about the federal Department of Education. The author, Roger Simon, proposed an idea that is controversial. He believes that it is time to get rid of the power and influence of the Department of Education by abolishing it. Simon submits that the large increase of federal funding for the public school system in recent years, has not increased student achievement at all, in fact, the US has fallen in the rankings of quality education when compared to other countries. On top of all that, the Biden Administration has poured an exorbitant amount of funds into schools to promote social justice and equity programs that have nothing to do with the core subjects of education.
Public education is a socialist program that is run by the federal government. Under socialism, we know that the centralization of the organization makes all the rules and determines that uniformity is the best way to deal with society. As the overseer of this program, the DOE isn’t even trying to hide the fact that they have a new focus. Aside from math, reading and writing, the Department is now pushing the agenda of identity politics on children, at every age.

The introduction of racial, sexual, and gender identity instruction in the classrooms has taken center stage. The documentary, Identity Marxism touches on all of these issues being taught in the public school system. Interviews from parents, governmental officials and people who have defected from communist countries all share their concern for the indoctrination being perpetuated on our students. This is a long video, but it is incredibly important to understand the agenda of the current administration. The producers do a great job of showing the connection between socialism and the push to cause division among American children. They show how the socialist ideology uses indoctrination on youth to break down the authority of parents, in order to establish dependency and loyalty to the socialist state. |

In Florida, Governor DeSantis has been taking a stand against the issue of indoctrination as well. His administration began the task of evaluating textbooks for adoption in their school system. The state has rejected more than 40 textbooks that contain this type of non-math related content. Why are publishing companies including CRT and “social emotional learning” objectives in math books? DeSantis is asking the same question.
Florida is also leading the way to make sure that young children (K-3 grade) are not being taught about gender or sexual identity. DeSantis is fighting back with the passing of the “Parental Rights In Education” which will assure that the discussions about these sensitive topics are not being held in the classroom. Young minds should be focusing on learning to read and count, not about transgenderism and sex at such a young age.

Sometimes it feels like the decisions of federal and state governments, publishing companies and curriculum writers are not an issue for the rural schools of the corridor. That may be true in some aspects, but elements of racial and gender politics are being played out in schools along the corridor. For example: a student at one of the local high schools is currently in a class that took a test, and one of the questions asked how many genders existed. Before the students took the test, the teacher warned the class that if they chose to select “only 2 genders exist” on the test, she would fail them. The student chose 2 genders anyway and failed. |
The Department of Education will continue to push the agenda of the administration for which it works. The importance of identity politics in their quest to control the masses will not stop, so parents need to be involved if their children attend public schools in this area.
Educating yourself about the school leadership in the community is important. Get to know the principal, the librarian, the school board members and teachers. The rural communities of Bennett, Strasburg, Byers and Deer Trail are all small enough to have a voice in what our schools are teaching. Reach out through mail or email and let principals know that you want to see math, reading and writing take the front seat in the curriculum. You want your student to grow up in a school where this administration’s agenda to push gender, sexuality and racial issues do not have a place in our schools.

How can I make sure my voice is heard?
● Attend school board meetings or run for the board ● Write to the school board to express your concerns about CRT ● Opt your child out of class when questionable content is being taught ● Volunteer as parents for the hiring process of leadership in your local school ● Get to know your local and state officials who vote on educational policy ● Ask questions about curriculum that focuses on “social-emotional learning” ● Understand your parental rights - there should be communication from your school just like sex education and movies with higher than a G rating |
Getting involved locally:
There are many different ways that citizens can get involved in the educational process. Schools are asking for participation in many different ways. The schools along the corridor have made school board meetings readily available for the public to watch and participate in. Together, we can contribute time and attention to our young people. Below is a list of opportunities:
-Attend a board meeting (virtual): Bennett, Strasburg, Byers, Deer Trail
-Run for school board positions
-Write your local superintendent
