Falling in the Pothole
The overpass at the Bennett exit is one of the busiest thoroughfares along the corridor. Aside from Bennett residents, many of us use it to get to the grocery store, to get gas or fries from McDonald’s. However, the increase in traffic recently has taken a toll on that bridge. If you are like me, you get frustrated that a crew comes through periodically and does a quick “patch” on the hole that works its way into a crater in the right lane headed towards Ace Hardware. Residents on Facebook have commented that it is time to get a permanent fix and not just throw bandaids on the road and the ramps that lead up to it. Initially, I thought that it was CDOT that was responsible for that stretch of black top, but in fact, it is the town of Bennett. The increased population of the town with new housing developments will only make it worse. So if you are concerned about the condition of the South 1st street bridge over I-70, now you can make it known. Find your county below and give them a ring. You can also go straight to CDOT and report the issue online.

A Fun Time!
A huge thanks to everyone in Wolf Creek Estates who attended the Easter Egg Hunt last month. There were lots of little ones who showed up to hop down Barres Street to find all of the eggs along the way. It was a great time to meet neighbors and find out that there was excitement to see this event happen annually, as well as other events throughout the year. A special thanks to all of the residents on the street who hosted. It was a fun time for all of us.

Back by popular demand, the community critter swap will be setting up across from the car wash in Strasburg on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of May. Last month was such a success that they are keeping the ball rolling. The weather is getting warmer and it’s time to enjoy the sun with a little fun. On May 7th and 21st from 11am to 5 pm, this animal flea market will have fun for everyone.
Folks from all over the corridor will be bringing their chickens, ducks, turkeys, pigs, etc. to sell. There will be eggs for sale, a local baker with their creations, as well as an artist bringing their ceramic creations.
This is FREE for any vendor or community member who wants to set up and sell! They encourage locally crafted and produced items. If you are interested in being a vendor, contact Bitemeister Foods on Facebook or text 720-255-1550 to get signed up for a spot to highlight your products.
If you are interested in finding a great bargain, or something original, come on down and bring the family! Royal Crest Dairy will be taking orders. The Bitemeister Food Truck will also be available and open for purchase. So come on out to Strasburg, they will be in the open lot, directly across from the Strasburg Car Wash.

The Chamber of Commerce
The I-70 Chamber of Commerce is a good place to learn about events happening around town. They have made a home for local businesses to thrive. The members of the Chamber board work to promote the events along the corridor. If you own a small business, give them a look. If you don’t, they provide several services to the community, including sponsoring events to get citizens involved in the area. They work with May Farms in Byers to host several different luncheons and activities for the whole family. Their next sponsored event is Wednesday, May 18th
