PROBLEMS AT KING SOOPERS PHARMACY
As you get older, it seems like you have to do more and more to keep your body healthy and well and since we have come through mandated vaccination after vaccination, and since we live miles away from “the city” we look to our local pharmacy to take care of our needs. Unfortunately, our only choice is the King Soopers pharmacy which seems plagued with lack of clerks, overworked pharmacists, erratic availability and a lack of concern for customers.
I am 78 years old, a transplant patient, who spent 18 days in the hospital for COVID and pneumonia in 2022. I am in good health now, thank God, but I am not completely confident driving and going to the store by myself, but I made the effort to go Feb 14th. I arrived at 9:40 am and was told that I would have to wait a long time, possibly over an hour. It seemed he wouldn’t have any help until noon. I left and returned Feb 16th at 12:45 pm. I was told by the clerk that I would have to come back because they were going on break in 15 minutes. I explained that I had already been there before and she insisted they couldn’t help. It was interesting because there were two pharmacists and two clerks and although the pharmacists were very busy the clerks were standing around laughing and talking. After pleading my cause, I was given a form to fill out and told to call the pharmacy for an appointment. Maybe this should be posted, made a policy and explained the first time.
This is not the only example of problems with this pharmacy. I have spent hours waiting in line and days waiting for prescriptions that were not available. I made changes to avoid long lines by going earlier in the day, but it seems even that won’t work. I sent a message to the King Soopers store on Feb 17 and finally received an apologetic email on Feb 24. No recommended suggestions for change were offered. Maybe I am the only one experiencing these problems, but if not, maybe we should explain to management the problems.

THE TOWN OF BENNETT HAS A NEW MAYOR
Last month's article was about the Town of Bennett's handling of the rise in population, the introduction of many new business with inadequate traffic planning, as well as the apparent falling out with the Adam's County Sheriff's Department. Country Citizens was optimistic about the upcoming election for three of the five seats for Trustees, as well as the vacancy for Mayor in the upcoming April 2, 2024. As promised, the Town of Bennett was contacted to gain information about the candidates who were running for those seats. However, our reply was that the election was canceled due to the fact that the number of seats did not exceed the number of applicants.
Alison Belcher, the Town of Bennett's Communications and IT Director, gave the following information in her reply email:
In April 2024, the positions of Mayor and four trustees will be available. Nomination petitions were available to candidates from January 2, 2024 to January 22, 2024. The Town Clerk’s Office received four petitions for the Office of Trustee and one petition for the Office of Mayor. All petitioners met the qualifications to run for the office of mayor and/or trustee. Because the number of nominees equaled the number of available positions, the Board of Trustees canceled the April 2, 2024 election and elected Whitney Oakley to the office of Mayor and Denice Smith, Donna Sus, Royce Pinell and Larry Vittum to the office of Trustee. The new mayor and trustees will take oath during the April 9, 2024 regular meeting.

Perhaps there was no need to hold an election. It looks like there was not much movement in the ranks which is concerning on a couple of levels. After hearing many voices of discontent and frustration with the fast growth of the town, along with the amount of crime and accidents, along with the frustrations over tax hikes to help pay for another school, and yet so few were will to throw their name in the hat. Sounds like folks were hoping for a change, but not will to step up and do something about it. Hopefully, Mayor Oakley will seek out other opinions from her constituents to get a broader idea of the issues with which the Bennett residents are concerned.
Residents of Bennett! Mark your calendars now for the April 9th Board meeting.
