WILL COLORADO BECOME THE NEW CALIFORNIA
When my family and I moved from California to Colorado in 1973, we were surprised to see the “NATIVE” license plates and comments denigrating Californians. I grew up on the Western Slope and couldn’t recall or did not have the impression that coming from California was a problem. Having lived here for 50 years, I not only wish the Californians would stay put but also regret the influx of illegal immigrants from all over the world. Wow? Things have changed for the worse.
I have read comments by people in Colorado who dislike the California invasion and I have to say that I agree with much of what they say. It’s not just the increase in traffic, but increase in residential homes and water use, and increase in housing prices. It’s loud music silencing nature and quiet meditation in the mountain retreats. It’s bicycle riding clubs taking over our roads and California drivers who don’t know how to drive in the snow.
But more than this, it’s the culture they bring with them. Our state has moved from a conservative state to a split state of city liberals and Eastern and Western Slope conservative country landowners. They bring their liberal agendas of abortion, socialism, LGBTQ+, transgenderism, Critical Race Theory, sex indoctrination in public schools, and dislike of Christianity. |
What can we expect, when we elect a liberal like Gov. Polis. He supports a government run (Obama Care) health care plan, just like California. Throughout his career, Governor Polis has shown a commitment to LGBTQ+ equality. In Congress he sponsored the Equality Act, and as Governor has supported pro-equality legislation including Jude’s Law, the Ban on Conversion Therapy for Minors, PrEP & PeP Expansion, and most recently Culturally Relevant Healthcare Training and Marlo’s Law. As of September 2022, the California Legislature has passed 185 bills and resolutions sponsored by Equality California to advance LGBTQ+ civil rights and social justice. Colorado and California in step with each other.
Gender-affirming care is now included as an essential health benefit for thousands of Coloradans, Governor Jared Polis announced in an October 12 press conference.

Colorado will be the first state to offer gender-affirming care as part of the Essential Health Benefit. That group includes about 500,000 Coloradans. People enrolled in Colorado's Medicaid plan already have coverage for transition-related services.
In a historic first, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved Colorado’s request to include gender-affirming care in the new plan, which is set to take effect in January of 2023. According to a news release from CMS, the gender-affirming care will include treatments like “eye and lid modifications, face tightening, facial bone remodeling for facial feminization, breast/chest construction and reductions, and laser hair removal.” What they don’t say is that people on Medicaid in Colorado can receive removal of the uterus, cervix, ovaries, fallopian tubes. Also testicular transplants, removal of the penis, creation of a clitoris, creation of a vagina, and on and on. Remember your tax dollars pay for this insanity. |
CNN’s Dana Bash asked Polis about Florida legislation that critics are calling the "Don't Say Gay" bill — which would ban discussion of sexual orientation and gender identity in classrooms— as well as South Dakota's new law that segregates school athletics based on sex assigned at birth, effectively banning transgender kids from participating in sports matching their gender identity.
In various cases, the lawmakers and supporters of such measures insist they are actually about protecting minors from inappropriate topics in the classroom, ensuring parents have insight into what is being discussed or ensuring fairness in sport.
Polis, a Democrat, called the laws "an example of Republican overreach on an issue that the American people have long moved past." Really!? We are okay with public school teachers telling our children whether they are boys or girls? We are okay with teaching sex to elementary students and having drag queens reading books in our public school library?

His Republican counterpart in South Dakota, Gov. Kristi Noem, argued that the legislation she signed into law in February was about a "level playing field."
Thanks to the new law, she said at a signing ceremony, "Girls will always have the opportunity to play in girls' sports in South Dakota, and have an opportunity for a level playing field, for fairness, that gives them the chance to experience success, go on to potentially play at a higher level, earn scholarships, perhaps play professionally, and have a career.”
"These hard policies about saying certain youth can't play sports," Polis said, "and certain people aren't allowed in certain places, or micromanaging what restroom people use and mandating what they do are really, frankly, un-American and are an example of Republican overreach, which will ultimately hurt their party, if they can't espouse the full diversity of the American people."
So, for Gov. Polis it’s all about politics. He will do anything Pres. Biden and the Democratic Party espouses and that is because he aspires to higher office. Gov. Newsom has the same aspirations and will follow the Democratic Party as well to insure their support.

We could add to our California inspired insanity: defund the police, homelessness, inability to find jobs, and high price of housing. California ranks 6th in cost of housing and Colorado ranks 5th.
Unfortunately, it appears that Colorado is turning more and more liberal and losing the conservative voice to stand up for conservative values, morals, culture, and Christianity. Do we want Denver to end up looking like other Democratic cities with their increase in crime and loss of police and firefighters? Do we want gas vehicles banned by 2035 like California. Well, Polis will require auto manufacturers to sell 80 percent electric vehicles in Colorado by 2032. |
It's coming, as long as we continue to elect liberal Democrats. We are umbilically connected to California by the Colorado River which runs through conservative counties. I would suggest an abortion or perhaps a divorce, but we have too many dependents sucking off Colorado water. So, who is the evil empire and who is the colony. Too bad we can’t declare independence.
Declaration of Independence
When in the Course of human Events, it becomes necessary for one People to dissolve the Political Bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the Powers of the Earth, the separate and equal Station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them........ |
