In this day and age there is so much confusion going on. You can turn on the news and hear threats of stealing the safety, peace, freedom, and liberty of the people in this country. In all of the uproar, our students end up taking the brunt of adults' poor decisions. Parents then are left with the decision to either send their students to public school and advocate for what should or should not be taught in the system; or try to figure out the best way to homeschool their children. But my question is when do we bring Christ back into school?
I remember the days when I was in public school. Classes were full of students to the point that teachers were unable to genuinely meet with students about academic struggles or emotional troubles that occured in the day. Teachers had good intentions but were either busy with 29 other student needs or unsure how to help a student who was not “meeting grade level expectations”. Their idea of help was sending students to be evaluated for special education. These students were taken from their class and at times felt discouraged and unheard. Even though I did not qualify for special education services their best answer was they couldn’t help me and that I would never be able to go to college. This left my family frustrated and uncertain on next steps.
It wasn’t until I stepped into a Christ filled homeschool that my life began to change. In a matter of 3 years being instructed by a Holy Spirit filled teacher I was reading on grade level and encouraged to send in an application to a University that the Public School teachers advised that I would never be able to attend. With the partnership of my homeschool teacher, hard work, and most importantly God’s healing love I received my acceptance letter to Oral Roberts University.

I share all of this with you to say that with Christ in schools we can expect our students to grow and become all that God intended. Who can we trust to care, love, build up, and strengthen students for the world we live in? The answer is Christ! He knows what is going on and what is to come. Consequently, He is the only one that knows how to equip students to become the next courageous leaders of America.
As you are planning, researching, and thinking about next school year here are a few Christan resources that I found.
Abeka- As a student and a teacher, I used this curriculum. It challenged and strengthened my literacy skills that I missed in public education. As a teacher in a Christian school, I enjoyed handing my elementary students their text and discussing either the verse or the Christian stories that were tied into the language, math, science, or history lessons. This curriculum provides textbooks, video lessons, and manuals for all subject areas for students K-12. Abeka has been a well-respected and well-known Christian homeschooling curriculum program for more than 30 years. Grade level kits(all subjects included) prices range from $300-$600 or individual grade and subject materials range in price $10-$40.
Master Books: This curriculum offers a Charlotte Mason inspired approach to learning with
hands-on activities and time to explore. Their mission is to increase the reader’s faith in God and the authority of His Word. Books are obtained by multiple age levels or by grade, so parents are able to purchase the correct material that will provide a challenge for students. This curriculum provides textbooks, video lessons, and manuals for all subject areas for students K-12. Leveled subject sets range in price from $145-$375 or individual grade and subject materials range in price from $20-$193.
My Father’s World: Is a curriculum that offers a combination of the Charlotte Mason method and unit studies. What makes this curriculum so unique are their Family Learning Cycles. In these cycles they provide guides/student worksheets, bible, science, world geography, read aloud books, hands on activities, and crafts in one bundle to teach multiple grade levels. They have it broken in order that you can teach preschool through 2nd and 3rd through 8th grade with the same program. This way as a family you can go through the units together. Math and language arts are sold separately in order to select the correct material that will meet each students’ needs. Once students get to high school grades they ask what subjects your student has completed before you make purchases. If you are unsure where to start they provide a number to consult with someone about what credits your student needs in order to graduate. Family Learning Cycles range in price from $420-$491, math books $83-$189, and language arts materials $23-$57. High school materials packages can range from $552 for freshman and sophmores, juniors $657, and seniors dependending on what courses they still need cost $765. All materials can be purchased separately in order to purchase what your family desires to study together.
