IS AMERICA GOING SOCIALISTIC?
“When a righteous elite becomes a party powered by hatred and
marches in lockstep toward its ideological goal, and when this same
party sets out to transform society into a politically correct realm,
there is no limit to the control they will require to achieve the perfection
for which they strive.” David Horowitz in Final Battle

A recent poll determined that 36% of Americans under 30 view socialism as positive or very positive. This is a reduction from the previous year, but still a concern in light of the present socialists in the Democratic Party. In 2019, nearly two-thirds of Democrats and Democratic leaners (65%) had a positive view of socialism. Today a smaller majority of Democrats (57%) say they have a positive impression. In fact, most Democrats are supporting an administration that is becoming more and more socialistic whether they call themselves Democratic Socialists or not. In January 2016, YouGov asked millennials whether they had a favorable or unfavorable opinion of socialism. Eight percent replied “very favorable,” 35 percent “somewhat favorable,” for a total of 43 percent, almost the same percentage as in their 2017 survey. |
Which brings us to the urgent need to depict the realities of socialism to Americans who have never heard of the Berlin Wall, the Gulag, the killing fields of Cambodia, the Tiananmen Square massacre, or the daily bread lines in Moscow.
Why would one-third of young Americans prefer to live under socialism rather than capitalism? Is it idealism — the desire for a classless society in which everyone is equal and envy does not exist because everything is owned in common? Is it a lack of knowledge? When asked how many people have died under communism, only 31 percent of Americans could provide the correct answer—“over 100 million.” About seven in ten Americans could not define communism.
Would these same millennials choose socialism, if in exchange for “free” education and “free” health care, they would have to give up their personal property, such as their iPhone, their gas-powered car or fast-food hamburger? Would seven percent of millennials declare their willingness to live under communism if they knew the real costs of communism as practiced in some 40 nations over the past century include the denial of free speech, a free press, and free assembly, the imprisonment and execution of dissidents, no free and open elections, no independent judiciary or rule of law, the dictatorship of the Communist Party in all matters and on all occasions?
Do we all recognize that the Democratic Party has denied many of us free speech through the demands and control of the Democratically controlled media? Do we have the right to assemble at school board meeting without being called names and threatened with arrest? How many conservatives been arrested and charged with crimes that they did not commit? Have some conservatives been killed or threatened to be killed for their moral stance? Are our elections free and clear of fraud, mismanagement, and constitutionally legal? Is our justice fair or are judges running for office on promises to charge a political opponent with a crime? Does our Department of Justice hide information to protect a political party? Does our government tell us what our taxes are used for, what to drive and what fuel to use, what animals to raise, what medicines to take, what pronouns are appropriate, what our children will learn, what light bulbs we can use, and whether churches are shut and liquor stores are open.

Our founding fathers, who had lived under the absolute control of King George III, wanted a country that would be protected against dictators. They established the Constitution with checks and balances which would aid in denying any special interest party or party members from gaining total control. They understood that humanity had a fallen nature and government had to be established to protect against special interests and which encouraged compromise. Unfortunately, we see that some would attack and try to rid us of those safe guards. These people would destroy the electoral college, make invalid the Amendments, pack the Supreme Court, add Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico as states to unbalance the Congress, and on and on. These Progressives are taking us down the Socialistic path with blindfolds on. The essential difference between the visions of Karl Marx and George Washington, aside from the question of human nature, is that in Marx’s socialist world there is a dictatorship of the Communist Party, while in a liberal democracy like the United States “We the People” tell the government what to do, the government does not tell the people what to do.
