TAKING A LOOK BACK
It's been about 2.5 years now since the Left started its full court press to push the “DIVERSITY, EQUITY and INCLUSION” agenda in America. As a new year begins, it’s time to evaluate its effect on the educational system in the country. Have these policies caused things in our schools to get better or worse? This month we take a look at the elements of the DEI agenda on our children.
#1 CRT is alive and well-
Although progressives will continue to deny that critical race theory is being taught in schools, it is evident that parents are seeing it in their student’s classrooms. For example, a concerned parent group in Brentwood, CA is worried that their student’s success in school is being hindered by the philosophy of their school. According to one article on the subject, “Children like ours are being taught to give up ambition and yield positions that they might earn through hard work to others who are more marginalized. “My child is asking me obvious questions like: If I work really hard, shouldn’t I get rewarded?” Sounds like CRT is doing more harm than good.
Grace Church School children are being sent home with a 12 page inclusive language guide for student’s to abide by, using words like “folks” instead of boys and girls, as well as the discussion of sexual orientation and racial identities. This push only puts more pressure on young people to be overly concerned that they are politically correct. |
A school in Washington state lobbied to have the book To Kill a Mockingbird removed from the required text list for 9th graders in their district. The article states “The teachers’ objections to the book included criticism that Black characters are not fully realized and that the book romanticizes the idea of a “white savior.” Skirting around the issues of the past are NOT helping young people. Instead, it makes difficult conversations even more convoluted. Teachers are making decisions to scratch the classics in order to ensure that children are not triggered.
The same is happening in California, where a San Diego district recently held a training in which white teachers were told that they “spirit murder” black children. The amount of absurdity that surrounds the “race” conversation is unbelievable.

#2 Grooming is happening-
Project Veritas is a private corporation that has committed to reporting on the abuses of Leftist views. Recently, they published their findings on adults who were found to be grooming young people during an “optional” event during pride week at Francis Parker high school in Chicago, IL. These teachers, and administrators were accused of exposing young people who were exploring their sexuality to inappropriate conversations and interactions.
Project Veritas was quickly called out by the staff for “undermining diversity, equity and inclusion in the school” as their undercover video of the Dean of students was revealed online. The dean was shown talking about lewd sex toys that were passed around, and the sexual conversations happening with LGBTQ students at this forum. |

In another part of the country, Kirk Cameron, an actor who left Hollywood to display his disdain for the moral corruption and lack of patriotism in our country, has recently written a children’s book called As You Grow. The book teaches young people about the Golden Rule and the Fruits of the Spirit. In his quest to get the word out, he has contacted more than 50 different libraries to inquire about being part of their “story time” segments at the local branches. He has been repeatedly denied equal access because the libraries were not interested in the content. According to Cameron’s publisher, “Many of the same libraries that won’t give Cameron a slot … are actively offering ‘drag queen’ story hours or similar programs for kids and young people.” The article in the Federalist takes a stand on this, saying that it is a violation of the First Amendment. More than that, it is a matter of direct violation of the whole idea of “diversity, equity and inclusion.” If we are interested in allowing access for all, why is one group being alienated? Is that not the direct opposite of the concept? Mr. Cameron should have as much access to the library’s story time as any.
Final Thoughts-
Our children are being continually bombarded with the notions that America’s past is terrible (1619 Project), there is no future (climate change is killing us all), that white people are oppressors, colored people are victims being oppressed (Black Lives Matter), and that they should question their gender identity (LGBTQ agenda). No wonder they have the highest suicides, the highest levels of social and emotional issues and disillusioned about the future.
Dennis Prager said it best in a recent interview, “They are being educated in resentment and fear. There is no more time in school to learn how to think critically, write clearly, and speak properly.”
Since COVID, BLM protests, lockdown learning and the new wave of political activism in the schools have taken place, things in the school system have gotten worse. Enrollment has gone down, achievement levels in math and english have gone down, the graduation rate has declined, and students are more confused than ever.
Although these issues are happening in the large school districts, many parents along the plains may not see them as problems. However, as more people leave the city, they bring their philosophy and morals, and liberal education with them. Also, as the population increases, we will need more schools, and more teachers and we will begin to attract staff from the city. That's why it's so important to get your foot in the door through participation and interaction now.
If you haven’t already gotten involved, it’s still time to join the PTA, attend school board meetings, email teachers, ask questions, and check in with students regularly about what they are learning in school. It might even be time to consider homeschooling, if you haven’t already. Check out this mom who is teaching her young children to be homesteaders. Regardless of what you do, being on watch for your sons and daughters is paramount in this day and age.

Getting involved locally:
There are many different ways that citizens can get involved in the educational process. Schools are asking for participation in many different ways. The schools along the corridor have made school board meetings readily available for the public to watch and participate in. Together, we can contribute time and attention to our young people. Below is a list of opportunities:
-Attend a board meeting (virtual): Bennett, Strasburg, Byers, Deer Trail
-Run for school board positions
-Write your local superintendent
