THE GREAT COMPROMISE
December 13, Pope Francis released a statement that approved giving a “blessing” to same-sex couples. GLAAD (The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) President, Sarah Ellis, immediately responded to the Pope’s statement by saying, ““By removing barriers to priests blessing LGBTQ couples, the Pope accurately recognizes that LGBTQ people and our relationships are worthy of the same affirmation and support in the Church, and this strengthens couples in their faith and to the community. This is the latest in a historic pattern of actions and announcements from Pope Francis which show that LGBTQ people should not be used as a dividing issue, and we are worthy of love, respect and compassion.”
The first thing that comes to my mind is 2 Timothy 4:3, “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.” It seems that the church has left the truth of the Bible and being influenced by the trends of the modern day, have adopted the confusion and compromise of today’s culture.

We are so intimidated by the “victim” groups that we are afraid to stand up for the word of God. We try to accept the foolishness of today’s impositions but deep in our hearts we know some things just don’t make sense. Men are wives and women are husbands? Can you honestly accept that as true? And yet, that is the only way they can justify an abnormal marriage. “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So, they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” Matthew 19:4-6 |
Is this unclear? It is obvious that Christ is talking about male and female and the “therefore” is a continuation of the thought that male/man and female/wife becoming one. “God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply.” (Gen. 1:26-28) Now, how in the world can a man-man relationship be fruitful and multiply?? Or woman-woman relationship? God’s blessing of producing children can only come from man-woman relationship!
Of course, those trying to justify the normality of gay, lesbian, and same-sex relations have come up with alternative methods to prove their “marriage” is fruitful: adoption, artificial insemination, and hopefully believing that men can get pregnant. Since we are in a period of “Weird Science” perhaps that will even be possible when they can transplant all the female parts into a male body and, of course, remove the male parts to transplant to some poor, uninformed female. |
This Pope has digressed from his previous positions in which he has said:
“Once the human being declares independence from reality and behaves with absolute dominion, the very foundations of our life begin to crumble.”
Medical and pastoral support needs to help people “to accept their own bodies and to avoid the pretension to cancel out sexual difference because one no longer knows how to deal with it.” Gender identity theory “denies the difference and reciprocity in [the] nature of a man and a woman and envisages a society with-out sexual differences” with the consequence that “human identity becomes the choice of the individual, one which can also change over time.” “Once the human being declares independence from reality and behaves with absolute dominion, the very foundations of our life begin to crumble”. “Being man or being woman is a reality which is good and willed by God.” |
It seems that “blessing” a same-sex relationship does not go as far as to meet the requirements of the Seven Sacraments. So, as of yet the Catholic Church has not embraced same-sex marriage although there is a move in the church to do so. This same problem is in Protestant churches as well.
I have no hostility against people who choose homosexual relationships. Love must guide a Christian’s life, but even God says he will correct those that He loves. (Heb 12:6) We must love others but also speak truth when possible. We have been forced by the government and special interest groups to give this “victimized” group special privilege which has unfortunately led to more confusion such as transgender, men in women’s bathrooms and in women’s sports, and sex changes on demand. |
The question is what does the Bible say and not be intimidated by special interest groups. Some people just listen to what the Pope and local pastors say. God holds US responsible for obeying His word. The Bible warns of false teaching in the latter days. People will sacrifice the truth in order to increase membership and finances. This will be disguised as love, but in reality, speaking truth is true love. Most actions these days are done by people that want to appear to love others but don’t consider the consequences of their compromise.
“If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions, and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.”

Galatians 6:2 encourages fellow believers to "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. As a community, we are bound together with the love of Christ. We exhibit that love through prayer for one another. Someone in our midst may be hurting, believing for a new job, seeking direction from God. When we come together in agreement for each other, we see God begin to work! We want to agree with you. We encourage our readers to let us know what we can all agree on for you. If you have a specific need that you would like us to pray for, let us know. The Word of God compels us to pray for one another in the community where we live.
