DEMOCRATIC PLATFORM ON COVID-19
This year is an election year and probably one of the most important elections in recent history due to the major problems with which our country is confronted. In order to get a clearer understanding of these issues and the difference between Democratic and Republican approaches to resolve these issues we need to look at the parties’ platforms.
If you are not familiar with party platforms, they are formal sets of principal goals and positions on domestic and foreign affairs. These platforms are formed and adopted at each party’s national convention which occur every four years before the presidential election. Often they are filled with disapproval of prior presidential candidates and thus are more politically motivated, but with a little effort you can find out their proposals to hopefully help the country.

If you are interested in the party platforms for the 2020 election for both the Democratic and Republican parties, the original adopted platforms can be found at https://democrats.org/where-we-stand/party-platform/ for Democratic Platform. The Republicans did not make a new Platform for 2020 so the 2016 platform would be available at https://prod-cdnstatic.gop.com/media/documents/DRAFT_12_FINAL%5B1
The first item on the Democratic Platform was PROTECTING AMERICANS AND RECOVERING FROM THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. Most of this was simply blaming Trump for not responding sufficiently to the pandemic. The major points regarding Democratic action included:

This is just a list of the major points, but I would like to comment on the Democratic response to the COVID-19 outbreak. First of all, I am thankful that testing for the virus was made available for free to everyone, even though this expense was passed on to taxpayers. I do question the validity of this testing. People were misdiagnosed often. One day no COVID, next day you do have COVID. Tests were sent home and many not correctly performed or the test didn’t work correctly and people got sick anyway. Many health facilities simply said you had COVID to save time and qualify for additional aid.
My first major concern is the funding of contact tracing. Some 300,000 people were hired to gather information to see who you were around. How willing are we to name everyone who we have been around in the last 2 weeks? Then how many of the people you were around would be willing to give out their personal information? If you refuse you must sign a form to agree you will self-isolate. If not, you can be fined or face jail time. But it turns out that there is no evidence that this novel coronavirus can be contained by contact tracing. So, what do they do with the information about us and our friends?

Protecting federal scientists like Fauci sounds suspicious just like not being able to sue Pfizer for complications from a drug and that research done will not be revealed for 50 years.
All the wage replacement and unemployment meant that people didn’t have to work for two years while they collected $1,500 month paid by taxpayers.
The $190 billion COVID aid to school districts was spent in various ways. Some on hiring staff, HVAC upgrades, Chromebooks, hotspots, and extracurricular activities. All was discretionary spending, which means they could spend it on anything and as the funding was running out the “just buy something” took over and much of the money is unidentified. Much of the money is untraceable and many officials fear the schools are sitting on the excess funds and, of course, they are not giving it back.

Freezing rent, making evictions and utility shutoffs illegal put many apartment owners in financial binds. Squatters couldn’t be forced to leave and property was destroyed.
Many of these points seem to be racist as priority is given to black, brown, oriental, Native American and LGBTQ+ who seem to need more “victim” help. So, not only did people get a check each month for not working, but they got free housing, free medical and free food because Democrats got more people qualified for Medicaid. Let me add somethings that were not listed in the Democratic Platform, but were initiated because Pres. Biden was already in office. People were denied transplant surgeries unless they got the COVID vax, people including well renowned physicians were banned from media outlets for disagreeing with mandates, alternative medication for COVID were taken off the shelves so that you couldn’t buy it, military men/women were demoted or resigned rather than take the vax, and dying family members were denied the right to spend their last minutes with family. |
Probably most annoying was the Democratic administration’s constant lies about the source of the infection, the part that the U.S. played in providing money to the Wuhan lab, and the viability/safety of the vax itself. These actions made it difficult to believe what the administration was selling. Passing more and more Presidential mandates and taking away more and more of our freedoms, and eventually finding out that the government used media companies to enforce their narrative and punish, shame, and intimidate people that didn’t agree, paints them as authoritarian dictators. They know what is best for us!?
Once a dictator, always a dictator.
