We see that many often fall for what is accepted rather than standing for what is right. At Country Citizens, we are here to partner with you, to stand and shed light on what is true, and help build our future leaders. All ages will enjoy this story of a great wizard who searches for truth in the midst of a whirlwind of gossip and confusion. He and the duke show integrity by making sure to find all the evidence and catch the real bad guys before they get away. Johnny Termaine is a great story that tells the story of a young man that shows integrity during the time of the Boston Tea Party and Revolutionary war. Middle and High School students will enjoy the adventure and mystery of this story. You can purchase this book at Thirftbooks for as low as $3.59.
As students study, create a poster titled “Caught with integrity”. Each time someone is caught acting with integrity, write them on the poster along with the story. This allows a great opportunity for students to witness integrity in everyday situations. Below you will find more projects you can complete.
To practice identifying this characteristic in the world, take a newspaper and cut out pictures or articles of those walking in integrity. As a family, you can make groups of two or three teams to search and give reasons for how that person showed integrity. For a challenge, you can create two posters one for those with and the other without integrity. Once pictures have been cut, discuss not only those who have shown integrity but have students share what the non-integrity persons could have done differently.
Students could create an integrity collage poster. They will need pictures from magazines, newspapers, or drawings of people they find with integrity(family, friends, etc.). To show what they have learned they can write the definition in their own words and decorate the poster.
